The blessed month of Ramadan is coming to a close. As we focus on our deeds and make the most of the last ten nights of Ramadan, Eid is just around the corner. Last year during lockdown, we used the time to make goodies for our family members around the US. This time we sought to bring the same joy by preparing Eidi packages for family.
This simple act of making an effort to make something and send it to family has sparked a warm tradition. I hope we can continue it in the future too.
I am going to provide the instructions on making these simple goodies. Remember to save this post to refer in the future.
If you haven’t seen them already, here is a link to these posts (each has been translated in Urdu as well):
Customized Eid packages
I have loved using clear stamps for making cards for a long time. These are made of clear plastic that you put on a clear acrylic block and position to stamp cards etc. You can find these at hobby and craft stores as well as Amazon. I had a bunch of stamps that have different themes. But I yearned for more stamps that are related to Eid and our holidays. This year I stumbled upon this unique store that has some beautiful stamps. I am not an affiliate but I wanted to show how easy it is to use them.
If you want to learn more about the stamping process, let me know and I can write a more detailed post.
The link to the store is right here.
Here is a video on how to use them.
I used them to decorate the USPS boxes as well. How amazing do these look? It took all of two minutes to do this.
DIY Eidi pouch for kids
This Ramzan, we made these to send out as Eidi pouches that can be reused and repurposed after Eid as well.
Felt is a very easy to use fabric with no need for hemming the edges.
I used a needle and thread to add durability. You can also use an adhesive to make them so it is a no sew. But my daughter likes to sew.
You can watch the video here.
The video shows two easy stitches that can be used for several other crafts using felt.
Dua for week five of the Ramadan Series
This week is a time to bid farewell to Ramadan. I have been reciting different duas. I make a point of spending some time on the meaning as well. This week it is a simple dua.
The reference for this duaa is from this Hadith.
Storytime for the week before Eid
Before I talk about the storytime, I want to mention a special book that a Canadian Pakistani mom has written for Eid. I did an interview podcast recently with her and she shared her experience as a Montessori teacher turned author. You can check out her book here.
This week is a story about Eid gifts. I have been doing them for the kids. It brings a lot of excitement and they get to look forward to continuing this every Eid.
I have thoroughly enjoyed preparing this series. I hope you too found it useful. Let me know which one has been your favorite part.
